Awesome

Thank you. I have shot the moon rising over the Acropolis and other landmarks several times and every single time it is a magic spectacle. Happy New Year !

If I may suggest, your foreground is fine, however; after reading the exif data, I think you should try this again but the next time try setting your iso to at least 3500-4500, shutter speed from 20-30s (depending on the effect you’d like) and of you can, set your F/stop to f2.8 or higher and please post results! If you don’t own a lens with a f/stop of 2.8 or higher, then use your f3.5 lens but for sure set your iso up to 3500-4500 and shutter speed at least 30s!

Good luck and hope that helps!

Shot last night with a lot of effort and patience. 2 exposures blended in post 2 hours a part.

Time lapse of the lunar eclipse, shot over Fort Rock in Eastern Oregon on January 31st 2018.

The cloud cover forecast was not looking good, but I figured I would take a chance. I left Eugene and drove to Fort Rock to scout in the dark. Stumbling around in the dark with a photo app on the phone trying to plan out the morning shoot was a little challenging.

I found a spot a few miles north of Fort Rock on BLM land to camp and crawled into my sleeping bag. I got up at 03:00 and drove back to Fort Rock. One of the spots I had chosen was going to work out fine. I ended up shooting it at 24 mm to get the complete path of the moon.

I shot from 3:40 until about 6:40 with about a 10 minute interval between shots and 5 bracketed images per shot. I selected the images that I was going to use and opened them as a layer in PS. The bottom layer (blue hour) was shot about 1 hour before sunrise and was set to normal blend mode. The remaining layers were set to lighten.

Needless to say the cloud cover was not as bad as forecast and I am happy with the first time lapse like this that I have shot.
