agreed, that stuff is expensive as hell.

I had the option of going sony for my longest lens, but after seeing sticker shot, I opted for a less expensive alternative. Sure, the sony would work with all of my lenses, but I was going to use it for an adapted lens, and the third party alternative cost me a whopping $40, with no noticeable degradation to IQ (1.4x teleconverter)

I would like to do BIF with my a7riii, but the only option for that now is the Sony 100-400 + the Sony 1.4x extender, right? Sticker shock!

just got an email from Adobe...new LRClassic update today...I hope the import speeds up...that is my one slow point in my workflow...

On one of the photo podcasts Alfredo recommended I was listening to them talking about Lightroom. Apparently the adobe team have been working with intel to work out how to best utilise multiple cores so hopefully a future Lightroom will be able to fully utilise faster processors as I believe much of the processing just now is limited to single core (or is it single thread? I forget )

lol, BIF in general = $$$

not even going to attempt top level stuff.

A less expensive alternative may be to go only Sony 100-400, as when it comes to actual BIF, it's very hard to do it with any longer lens. 400+ is usually perched birds or somewhat stationary.

I had figured I'd start with just the lens and see how I did. After all I do have a lot of cropping I can do, might as well see how that works out. Plus, I'd love to try using the 100-400 for landscapes and the magnificent compression I'd be able to get. Friggin GAS.

Why does something so small...and so limited in its use have to be so $...

And it's the same price for the 1.4x telextender. Since I only have the 2x, I'm looking at it as though it's a bargain at the same price point as the 1.4x

It is an awesome extender and I use it a lot on my 100-400GM.

Came home early today, not feeling great...eas fiddling with the 70-200 and 2x out back...heard noises in the woods...coyote...underbrush and tree branches were too much for the a9 to try to focus through...

Color version of the self portrait I took earlier...because I'm bored. :-)

Seventy three years behind me...seventy three more to go?

(I sure wish the forum database would get updated soon to include the a7r3)

Was someone here still using the Canon FD 35 TS?

If so what are your thoughts

Question for Capture One users:
When exporting my jpegs if I revise my raw edit and re-export it doesn't overwrite the original jpeg export, but instead creates a new jpeg with a numbered suffix. I just want to overwrite. How do I change it to overwrite?

I have been having so much fun with the RX10 IV for the past few months, I took the bigger Sony plunge today. Traded a 5D2, 7D, and X-T1 in at my local camera store for credit plus the $500 Sony rebate for an A-9. Then ordered the 100-400 + the 1.4 from the $100 off sale at B&H. I'm still holding on to my 5D4, and 7D2 for now for my 500 f4, but I will evaluate as I go.
