Well I am really impressed. I photograph the stuff on lifejackets and marine rain gear and it drives me nuts!

What do you find is the problem? The fact that the reflective strips throw so much lay back it messes up your meter?

Great job on the lighting on this shot.
How did you manage to get her lit so nicely but NOT the log/tree under her?

Only minor nit would be the shine on her face...not sure if that can be fixed with lighting though [Shrug]

I believe I used a gradient filter in Lightroom to lower the exposure on the bottom of the frame.

I agree with the slight overexposure on her face. I'll try to fix it in photoshop but I'm not great at it currently.

Thanks for the compliment, by the way.

Not the meter, the image.

The stuff I've shot - nearly all of it is a 3M product - throws the light right at the camera. "Angle of incidence equals angel of reflection" does not apply. So you end up with the reflective material becoming a light source, or specular highlight and creating glare. Like having a mirror that always reflects the light source directly into the lens.

I just archived my images from last summer, or I'd post an example...

Here's a shot I took last week. Also made a BTS video for the shoot if anyone is interested. In the video I go over the best gear for anyone just starting off camera flash. =)

*Exif says A7RII because there's no A7RIII option.

Great shot and I appreciate the BTS shot as well.

But, my main comment is, "wow!! Now THAT'S a dress!" :)

I saw your instagram as well, excellent!

My question is, do you use ND filters to get the f/1.4 and bokeh, or HSS?
