vinmunoz Cream of the Crop More info | Feb 20, 2018 12:16 | #12156 Thanks. we were doing a road trip to a ski resort near Reno Nevada and the hotel we stayed over have indoor pool. we let the kids had fun swimming and i just took random candid shots but that gal(daughter of our close family friend) look at me and i clicked. i did a little bit of cropping though to get to that composition. | SONY A7SIII(2) | A73 | A6000 | Sony A7IV | Sigma105 | FE1635F4 | Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 | Tamron 17-28 Tamron 28-75 | FE50F1.8 | Sony 16035F4PZ | SEL30mm F3.5 Macro | Canon 24mm TSE | Laowa 15mm Shift

EDIT - I had 36 images in Explore in 2013, more than that in 2012 & a dozen or so in 2011. Nothing since aside from the past week...... My pattern was the same, I then found out from Travis that there’s a minimum pixel dimension (1600 I think from memory). After I upped it to 2048 long edge from my previous 1024 I started getting them again. Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

If you want to check your own you can use https://bighugelabs.com/scout.php I make my 2048px versions public but I think my issue is I don't get enough views on my public images. Not sure why. I add them to 5 or more groups each with several thousand images posted. I only have 500 followers on Flickr. I have about that many on Instagram and about 30 on 500px. Pitiful I know. - Alfredo -

No matter what I do I cant increase my IG followers. I post images with tags, they get 50-100 likes, I get some new followers then slowly over the next few days the followers drop back down to 120-130. I was up as high as 200 one week 70 dropped back off as fast as they came on. I have gave up in that regard Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

It's a lot of work to keep up. Sometimes I ask myself why bother but then I get motivated by seeing the work of those I follow and sharing my own work. I'm also growing a following within my own city which will hopefully translate into more paid work. I just try not to get caught up in the whole "tricking the algorithm" crap to get more followers and likes. TRhoads wrote in post #18568483 More than 5 groups can be a deal breaker for the algorithm. I limit it to 4. Views is one matrix, but faves and comments are the other 2. My stats indicate that 40+ faves and at least 10 comments increases the odds... But number of followers is another matrix, after I hit 1k it has been more consistent...I like to think the images are better than they used to be... I tried for a few weeks to post a few images and only limit it to 4 groups per image but didn't have much engagement at all. I must be using the wrong groups or people find my images boring. I appreciate your tips though. - Alfredo -

I looked at your Flickr and I think I’ve identified your shortcoming: you’re only following 58 people. I am following nearly 700 and Travis nearly 900. Each day I quickly swipe through everyones uploads that I follow on Flickr and hit double-tap to favorite every single thing I enjoy viewing. It usually me less than a minute. Photography is so much about giving and sharing; those that give the most receive the most. Some might take a skeptical view and have contempt for the reciprocity of it, but I truly take pleasure in viewing other people’s images and having them do the same with mine. Thoughts about following people. Sometimes I’ll follow people whose work I adore, but more often I simply reciprocate someone who has followed me. When I get a follower I ask myself two questions: 1. Did they also favorite my work? If not, I usually don’t return the follow. 2. Is there work interesting to me at all? It doesn’t need to be amazing, but it just needs to be interesting. If it’s repetitive/iterative I don’t follow. If it’s cell phone work I don’t typically follow. All of this this reminds me that I need to follow more people...going to work on getting that number to 1,000. This...was my next post on the subject...more or less... Website

I discovered there are twice as many of my images there than I thought. Here they both are. Gene - My Photo Gallery ||
