Nice little lens,quite sharp and focus is ok I would still like a fast 35ml,2.8 is just note fast enough.
This one taken yesterday in cafe.

I did not like this lens on my 1.6x crop cameras because the 64mm equivalent focal length seems a bit awkward. However, I do like the 40mm as a normal lens on my full frame 5D Mark II camera...

I wish though that Canon would have made this lens in 35mm. Then it would have been better (for me) on both the crop and full frame cameras...

same! i love the 40mm lens and i use it as much as my L lenses. very sharp and nice to use

I had the opposite reaction to the lens - it's insanely sharp. Combine that with its size and weight...it's ideal for an easy, versatile walk-around. At least on FF and in my opinion. ;)

After reading the OP, then replies like yours, the first question that came to mind is was a tripod used, or handheld? For posted images, or other image related to replies.
