It is insanely wide, but don't believe it's a fisheye since it doesn't produce a circular image.

There are, generally speaking, two types of fisheye lenses. A circular fisheye which produces circular images within the 24x36mm image frame. Areas outside of the circular image are black. The second type of fisheye lens is a diagonal fisheye which covers a 180° diagonal (top left corner to bottom right corner) field of view filling the entire 24x36 image frame with a rectilinear image (non-circular).

The EF 15mm f/2.8 is a diagonal fisheye lens. On a full frame sensor, I prefer it to the 8-15mm L lens.

YMMV.

Produces straight images once corrected. This is post lightroom correction. This took a whole two seconds and one click in LR to fix the warping. But no, there is no black space.

Could you post the uncorrected version of that shot? I'm wondering how much of the original image is cropped out after straightening.

Absolutely! Not too bad, but you do need to be mindful of what you may lose. Most the time it's easy to see.

this is crazy cheap

soon I will be selling a group of lenses - this was to be one - if this price is representative of current market, I'll just keep it and sell my 8-15mm L - I can use the Samyang 8mm for circular images.

whoever purchases this lens at this price will get a real bargain! at this price, my 15/2.8 will stay home!

GLWS
