"Blinded by the light: the violence of flash photography"

I typically enjoy the articles posted on this website, but this one is junk.

Or maybe I'm not being fair?

Yeah right. Lol

Flash in the pan troll article. They've gone off half cocked. Their aim was to cause cranial misfires. Their point was a false premise. Many will recoil after they read it. Simply pointless. Post an article, they fire and forget. Hope they reload the batteries in their flashes.

Smith and Wesson... the original point and click device... :-P

Just fire away...

With a “Canon”

...the safer way to take a shot.

"Kate Flint is provost professor of art history and English at the University of Southern California."

Explains a lot right there.

Anything else she might think to throw in with that. Modern dance???

So, how many arts professors are deranged sociali— er, sociopaths?

What a completely useless article. The fact that the author actually took the time to think of and write this is really a sad commentary on academia today! Perhaps she could try to "educate" people on things that actually matter to the common person?????

It's a good example of someone coming up with a premise and then cherry picking evidence and putting round pegs into square holes in order to defend it. The premise itself is rather baseless. I wonder what the author would say about the iconic image of an execution from the American/Vietnamese war that I believe was taken without a flash.
