Been a couple of weeks since I last got a chance to do some solar observing/imaging some Ha images from today. One very large prominence and some filaments .... Lunt LS60THa and a ASI1600MM camera and Sharpcap software. Some editing in LR

Thanks :-) I have been really enjoying the solar observing in Ha. A whole different world to the white light imaging

As an aside, a friend on facebook led me to this site .....

for a "ruler" image that can be applied to actual solar images to be able to gauge relative sizes of features on the sun
prominences, sunspots, filaments etc

so for an example for that first image, I discovered that that prominence was 60,000 km or so high off the Sun ... almost 5 times the diameter of the Earth
