Well I thought lenses were sharp (or not) and sensors resolve (or not).
Yesterday I shot a hawk about 100 yards away with the a9....cropping=mush.
Shot it with the Riii, cropped and had something...not something I'd post but I could.
Same lens/light/settings/etc.

razor sharp, considering it was the a9 and not the 7r2...it was still really sharp.

Yeah I need to walk into the hospital with that on! Career gesture!
Well my beard is about 10 inches long now and I have a little Steven Segal knot at the bottom,
the boss stares at that already.

Sony vs Canon 35mm comparison. Canon seems slightly sharper, though DXO indicates otherwise. Rendering and bokeh are really similar.

My take is that its hair splitting in terms of IQ, so go with the native because its cheaper, smaller, and has faster AF.

We spent a hour this afternoon re-working the splash studio. Maybe we'll get something.
Poof spent a hour yesterday making the super secret mixtures for the drops. Mind you this
is a drinking sport and the splash quality is based on the vodka quality.

Hand-held at 1/4 sec. a7rIII IBIS really is a step up from the MKII. Couldn't pull that off before.

In what regagrds are they compared, most of what I have seen shows them to be fair equals...my images at 200mm were more than plenty sharp, and that was one complaint I remember seeing about the Sony. I hardly think you will find that the Sony 70-200 GM sucks or leaves you wanting, especially if you compare trying to adapt a Canon lens to a Sony body...

Travis, either the copy of the 70-200 that we both have now owned is uniquely good, or people are blowing the performance of the lens out of proportion. I had no issues at all with the sharpness of the lens at 200mm:

He has now confirmed to me that it’s the screen protector that’s upside down. The actual Sony logo is below the correct way up. I think I’m going to go for it. Can return it if it’s not as described

yeah thats a screen protector.

My goodness, uhs-ii cards are expensive! Is this the correct type of card I’m looking for to put in the fast slot of the a7riii?

SanDisk Extreme PRO 64 GB up to 300MB/s UHS-II Class 10 U3 SDXC Memory Card

(I usually use Sandisk and usually use 64gb but open to suggestions)

yes you must get a fast card!! :P

128g is best. you get 1,120 pics with uncompressed raw+jpg. but if you dont need that much than 64g will do. Ive used my old cards and it just doesnt cut it. 300/s is best

i really wish sony opted for qxd on the a7r3. its faster and cheaper

on an interview with the one in charge for sony, that question was brought up and he said not many users use qxd so it doesnt make sense. well..... imo.. we gotta buy a new card for the new camera anyways, might as well be fast and cheap. good way to promote their qxd cards. heck, they still have a slot for ms card. wth?? now that does not make any sense. heh

Thanks. It’s weird that one slot is uhs-I and the other ii. I guess that means if you shoot raw to both you are bottlenecked by the slow card?

Apologies in advance everyone for asking questions that were probably asked months Ago!
