This is true. I don’t think uhs-2 is worth it. Buffer still takes a while to clear, but it’s so gigantic, doesn’t really matter. 80 raw is a massive buffer. I shoot raw + jpeg to get higher quality phone transfers, and haven’t even hit that buffer max, whatever it is.

I would have skimped here, but found a killer deal, couldn’t pass up.

Thanks. It’s weird that one slot is uhs-I and the other ii. I guess that means if you shoot raw to both you are bottlenecked by the slow card?

Apologies in advance everyone for asking questions that were probably asked months Ago!

My goodness, uhs-ii cards are expensive! Is this the correct type of card I’m looking for to put in the fast slot of the a7riii?

SanDisk Extreme PRO 64 GB up to 300MB/s UHS-II Class 10 U3 SDXC Memory Card

(I usually use Sandisk and usually use 64gb but open to suggestions)

I use the SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card in slot one, the bottom one and it works fine. I plan on getting a second one for the top slot too. I would probably set it up so that when one card is full, the files are then saved to the second.

I would think the faster card would be best if you shot in fast burst mode a lot though.

Nice motion capture. Err, what vodka is this? ;-)a

BTW, I like your tabletop stands and clamps. Care to share what and where?

Thanks both! I generally don’t shoot in burst mode. I thought not having the uhs-II meant slow write and chimp speeds but I hadn’t considered it’s just the speed to clear the buffer and since I’m unlikely to fill the buffer it’s probably a non-issue. I think I’ll start with uhs-I and see how I go.

Thankfully I didn’t click buy this morning on the fast one!

Nah no comparison. The 85 offers way more pop. Your perspective is completely off too.

Admittedly...the one I posted from the 85 was edited, the other was not. But, I will say that I would prefer the 85 anyway.

Yeah I need to walk into the hospital with that on! Career gesture!
Well my beard is about 10 inches long now and I have a little Steven Segal knot at the bottom,
the boss stares at that already.

I would want to be there for that...

Travis, either the copy of the 70-200 that we both have now owned is uniquely good, or people are blowing the performance of the lens out of proportion. I had no issues at all with the sharpness of the lens at 200mm:

The lens tested against the Canon did well, in the lab...and maybe this one is excellent and above...but I think people get a little nuts about what they consider good or not good, and some want to bash Sony anytime they can.

Guys, what make of (wet) sensor cleaning swabs do we all use? Preferably something that is available in the UK & not just over there ;-)a

I'm sorry if this isn't available in the UK but I tried aeroclipse and it didn't remove the tough stain even with multiple cleanings. I ordered smear away from amazon and that did it in 1 swab. smear away is made by visible dust I think it's made in Canada.

there is a cheap alternative but mixed reviews on yhe solution but people seem happy with the swabs. Chinese made I think named VSGO

85 1.4 and 200/2 are my two most used lenses now. 85 by far trumps everything else I've ever owned. The GM looks like a great lens. I'll see how the adapted 85A works out at first.

I've heard the 70-200 sony just isn't as good as the canon mk2. It sucks for me because I think I'll end up having to have the 70-200 and 400 combo since there is no 300 offering or 200/2. I mean this is if I want native.

there is a 70 - 300 which isn't too shabby from the reviews maybe a tad expensive though. were you talking about a 300 prime?
