Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

Goofing off tonight. Thought I'd share some snapshots (and I emphasize snapshots) of my loud out.
Many of you may know/remember Poof and I travel in a small campervan. Space is a premium, so my loud out
needs to be concise.
Also a new product I picked up off of kickstarter some may like. I do, it provides bump protection and when one is put
on the bottom of the lens and one on top it is a serious (though not totally waterproof) weather deterrent.

First shot is looking down into my Everyday Backpack 20L

I ordered a bunch of them and as mentioned I can see several uses. Often I have the 100-400 slung around the
should and a lens in the pocket....now it can have a slim protective cover.

So a concise load out, 50mm macro to 800mm and wide field astro capable.

Decided to try out Smooth reflections today. I think I missed a trick somewhere as it output a jpeg. I didn't even notice till I saw the banding and got a bit confused.

Yes way way faster than the Rii. I can easily do BIF with the Riii, with the Rii it was a major pain, not even enjoyable. With the Riii I can BIF and enjoy knowing I've
got the cropabilty. That said it seems slow compared to the a9 because even at 8fps compared to the a9 the blackout is there.

You’re doing great talking me into an a9. I prefer my next camera to be 24MP. So it’s just down to the critical differences between a7 III and a9. 10 fps is plenty for me right now, but if the overall EVF experience is a lot better, then I’m probably sold on that point alone.

So maybe this year I add the 100-400mm GM (+ 2x TC for good measure), then next year grab an a9 and plan out a bunch of cool camp trips to some waterbird places in GA & FL. I think I could get into the sea bird captures because it’s sorta kinda a landscape shot. I don’t really know...just dreaming and scheming how to make the most of photographin he outdoors of my SE region.

my mate who works at a local camera store messaged me today that he had the first a7mkiii in the country and would I like to go and have a play with it. Damn it, I just did a 4 hour each way drive to pick up a vacuum heat press and started at 5am this morning and am totally written off and have missed the opportunity. ****. !

Ah bummer on the jpeg. I forgot that it’s just set to jpeg by default. Even when you do set it to raw it still makes a jpeg also. Which is hugely annoying. I don’t know how many times I’ve started processing an SR image only to realize I wasted a bunch of time on a crappy jpeg.

Jpeg aside, that’s very nice!

E-shutter has big advantages other than silence. But I think with the a7iii e-shutter can produce the bent golf clubs during the swing, or the crazy wings on a hummingbird. I think I went to mechanical on the a9 just one time to see if I could get the Godox working with it (easily) but other than that I can see no reason ever for mechanical with that body....which means no (less) worries of shutter failure since I'm not using a mechanical one. Why important? You've heard Eriet, Travis, and I mention racking up thousands of shots (I think with a9 first time ever filling a 128gb card).....and doing this several days in a row.

I just wonder about swiss cheese bottom on the a9? I haven't heard of a tear down like was bone by Cicala on the Riii.

shooting models or aspiring models are just for fun for me that's why i never wanna pay the models. I'm really into family portrait or seniors portrait. Sometimes though i joined some group photoshoot wherein we pay a small amount to the organizers who then pays some models. i don't like it though because usually there's a lot of photographers.

regarding directing a model, it's really one of those we need to learn. for posing, what you need to be familiar of are the flaws, to avoid poses which are unflattering to the model.

There's also apps like Poses Pro or Strike A Pose. Use them. Dani Diamond and others are using those apps.

Exude confidence when directing. when you click and you realize you didn't like the pose, don't be negative like "Nah that wasn't good". Don't say anything, just continue and have the subject change the pose.

When we splashed the other night we racked up over 1400 files
Don't worry, will only post a couple here, the rest can go into the archives for some future archeologist
to pour over. This one has a nebulosity reminding me of The Running Man or the Orion nebula in intricacy.

I’m curious about this too. I do feel the limitations on the a7rii viewfinder at times when trying to set critical focus on my landscape manual focus lenses so interested to see what all the fuss is about. Aging eyes don’t help

apart from the resolution that framerate should translate to less lag between the evf and what you are actually looking at

there was a video during the original a7 period where a reviewer showed there is lag between what you see and what happens
