We're from complete opposite ends of the UK. Face to face it would probably be even worse  :-P

Thanks for the wishes & comment. That's the first time I've photographed that pond/tree seeing as it's about 14 miles form home!! I said the beginning of the year that I/we were getting out & about more this year ;-)a I did want to do a long exposure but it started raining taking the image above & then the heavens opened!!

Thank you guys..... Just another day right... ;)

Does anyone use airtight containers for camera storage?? All mine is currently in camera bags inside/under the bed but I also want to be more organised with finding stuff!!

HBD M8, many many more to come!

Thanks Charlie. C3 is really useful for af/mf toggle, I’m really liking that. I think I’ll assign eye-af to af-on for the same reasons as above. I’ve only got one card in just now so I’ll add a second and see how review is with raw+jpeg.

On your last point what is FBW?

Due to FBW being so bad for some lenses, like the FE 35 stopped down, FE 55, FE 50, I'de try to use those as test for manual focusing. Should be much better on the R3.

xpfloyd wrote in post #18579160 (external link)
Sorry for all the questions but I’ve got another. On my a7rii I have EFCS ON all the time. When it’s full mechanical shutter the noise annoys me. On the a7riii are you guys still using EFCS ON ? (It sounds fine when off so wondering if I should use it or not)

I no longer use EFCS, do landscapes with uncompressed raw in silent mode (14 bit).

Bright sunlight or flash or banding, I'll use full shutter

Everything else, silent shutter compressed raw.

Sony A7riii/A9 - FE 12-24/4 - FE 24-240 - SY 24/2.8 - FE 28/2 - FE 35/2.8 - FE 50/1.8 - FE 85/1.8 - EF 135/1.8 Art - F 600/5.6 - CZ 100-300 - Astro Rok 14/2.8 - Tamron 17-28/2.8 - 28-75/2.8 RXD, 70-200/2.8 VC

Thanks again

FBW - focus by wire! Couldn’t for the life of me think what that meant at first. FE55 manual focus is indeed much much easier!

Did exactly that last night, rib eye sous vide, and then cast iron sear with a torch w/benzomatic :)

The ribeye photo I posted earlier was cooked sous vide.

Weird. Hadn’t seen that. Always seems like there’s something for people to freak out about every single camera release I’ve ever followed.

Jim Kasson,
I’m not particularly worried about this...

Something to keep a look out for, but if Kasson isn’t worried about it, that gives me peace of mind. I find he’s an extremely thorough gear tester/reviewer.

Did some playing with the AD200 + the magbounce today. Granted my daughter is a tiny person, but its a pretty nice light. I was holding the light it in the air with my left hand.

Also...borrowed a 50L from my friend. Taking it to Disney. Eye-AF with this lens is gold.

ok so got the 85 GM just a bit ago.. its quite a lens in size and that glass!! i feel like i need a filter to protect..

However

i'm goint to assume its normal due to the amount of glass that needs to move .. but AF is slow af:lol: that normal?
