Price has gone up for this lens I've noticed, it's always been around £1,700 highest price and now most retailers, on average are selling it for £2,000.

You can still buy grey from reputable UK retailers for nearer £1,300 though.

And I'm still wondering whether to get this and sell my 150-600 Sigma, with Motorsport and Aviation season coming.

On a 1Dx2 thread someone pointed out that the camera has gone up significantly in the UK too. There does seem to be a fairly major price rise on Canon gear at the moment.

Part of me is wanting to get the 100-400II on grey import, on the assumption it'll rise in price soon too, but I can't quite justify the cost :(

The pricing for the 100-400mm II seems to be holding steady more or less in the US.

That probably answers the question the 1Dx2 poster was asking: namely, is it just in the UK that prices have risen. It's quite significant: ~£1700 to £2000 for the 100-400II, ~£4800 to £5400 for the 1Dx2.

I haven't been following Canon pricing that much recently, but from looking at the figures at a popular UK retailer (Wex) they do look higher than I remember. I notice the Sigma 35A is also £100 more than it was a couple of months ago.

Here in Australia prices of the 100-400 have not changed much. Last year I paid Aud 2500 (equiv. 1950 US) from an authorised Canon seller and today is at same price.

Not sure what ya mean, but I can say that once you spend 4 hours x 3-6 days a week in the field, then you'll simply have lucky days.

Often times I ask others what they saw as they're headed out, so about half the photos I had help on by others sharing locations. Good to be social at times!

Also certain locations ya go back to often, over the years, you get a feel for what hides out where, and how to approach. Some are skittish no matter what, while others don't seem to care. Raccoons seem to not be very scared of people, not sure if that's good or bad!!

Happy huntin!

That was my first thought, but GBP to USD or JPY rates haven't changed that much in recent weeks. We did already get a big jump in prices in the immediate aftermath of the vote, when the GBP dropped heavily against the dollar.

Great capture on the first image, the second one of the flying fox I'm not so sure about, I'm guessing it's a boy.
