POTN G-series Speed Challenge #680 - Your favourite type of subject

Most of us like shooting a particular type of subject or style. You may prefer landscapes, cars, macro, wildlife, glamour, streetshots or whatever - show us an example.

***************

RESULTS

I realized too late that I had set a very difficult subject to judge. I liked all the entries. Would the winner be the best overall photograph or the best one of its type? In the end I decided that I would choose the best one of each type and then the final winner would be the one I would most like to hang on my wall if I had taken it. So without further ado these are my choices:

First place: OhLook. A deceptively simple composition with muted colours that I really liked.

Second: Stiga. A fine traditional landscape and if this had some HDR processing it was done with a suitably light touch.

Third: JimAskew. A good example of a typical family portrait. I like the fact that not everybody is saying "cheese" and smiling artificially at the camera, and that probably not everybody in the photo is happy with the results - like many of my own family shots.

Finally I should say to Trumper and Maureen that your shots were also very much in consideration for the podium but in the end I had to make up my mind as above.

I'm glad that's over and I can happily pass the next challenge over to you, OhLook

Thank you, teekay, and congratulations to Martin and Jim. I'll post the next challenge in a while. Give me a little time to work something up.

Yes, teekay, you did choose a difficult subject to judge - but a good one for the paticipants :-) Thanks for the kudos and for running the show.

Yes, my landscape was an HDR job (a bracketed set of 3) - I always go for the natural look.

 It was certainly difficult enough to try and pin down 1 photo that summed up a feeling ,place or event.I didn't envy the judging.I did also wonder when the forum went offline for a while.
Well done Oh Look . :) They all found something we love.

Congrats to the winners!!! While my favorite subject is wildlife, I do not shoot it with a P&S camera so the grandkids were the next choice.

Most definitely, especially around this house where I have 3-5 of them here 30-40 hours a week. Crazy but fun.

Congratulations to OhLook and Martin (Stiga)....wonderful photos! And, thanks Teekay for the 3rd Place nod. A great contest subject and excellent entries.

In reality I have two favorite subjects Weddings (with my pro gear) and Family. Regrettably I no longer shoot Weddings and, in fact, I have donated most of my professional gear to our local high school photography department last year. Families on the other hand I will continue to photograph as long as I can hold a camera. :-)
