I have had acceptable moon pics handheld, but much better with a tripod. Mar 07, 2018 09:25 | #469 This one was on a tripod. I was trying to keep ISO noise lower (400 and below) and with Moon rise shots I typically need a little longer exposure time (1/50) in this case.

I have some decent hand held ones at iso 400 and 1/200 but the moon is up higher. What is your metering mode? I would have to check at home, but I think that my shots use a relatively low ISO and relatively short shutter speeds. The full moon is very bright, and you should get good results with low ISO if you are using spot metering. Also, you can underexpose a bit and increase the exposure in post if you need to keep the settings reasonable. Mar 08, 2018 18:26 | #471 With my area we get a lot of moisture in the air requiring a bit more exposure for moon rise/sets. When the moon is high I can shoot at 100-200 iso with roughly 1/200 - 1/400 shutter speeds at F/5 and above.

(2 edits in all) | Mar 17, 2018 15:00 | #478 I recently acquired this lens and finally got around to testing out. I originally had the V1 for some time and loved it. I sold it a few years back when my kids were born but decided to get into shooting a bit more. To be fair before you judge the photos the shooting conditions were not ideal at all for this lens. (overcast, very windy etc) I want to test the lens again when the weather is more favorable. Overall the lens handles almost identically to the V1 IMHO. However I do appreciate the improvements. The IQ seems to be identical as well but I plan to sends the Lens to Tamron to get a tune up and shoot again before I make any final conclusions.
