Nicely placed background colour to make the bird's head stand out.

I've been noticing that all the birds that I have photographed in the last few days have been pairing off.
The first pair are Stonechats

Another Pair,......Cirl Buntings. I was very fortunate to see a flock of 14 birds and 1 chaffinch amongst them. The chaffinch seemed to be at home with the Cirl Buntings and comfortable with their company.

Really high up, so had to use mf on these with the 1.4xiii / tripod / mirror lock and wait for 'em to make an appearance. Focusing was still fun as there was plenty of rising heat. Nothing technically amazing, but it's among the my owl finds I didn't get help locating, which is always exciting when unexpected!

Nice shot - can be tough with these shy birds. They drink sap??
