ok so the 85 GM drama continues..

i had it all repacked , ready to take to the post office tomorrow ..

but before it went back i decided to take it out tonight and do some quick comparison shots vs. my Fuji 50 f2..for my own entertainment,
anyway, i normally shoot on af-S as i don't really do any moving subjects..
so as i'm taking shots with the 85 , i decide to see how bad it'll do on af-c..surprisingly it seems it does batter with acquiring focus in af-c than it does in af-s ..?
its actually not bad at all in afc.. its responsive , quick enough .. for most situations .. maybe even street candids ? I'm just testing it out here in my apt. back in forth between both modes and its a very noticeable difference..

seems like a different lens in afc mode vs. afs mode... i assumed the opposite.

apologies if this is a noob discovery i'm making here .. but , maybe it isn't going back?

yes i have no problem with the 85GM in AF-C.

Randall I know we're in different worlds and shoot different worlds but I hardly ever every leave AF-C with any of the Sonys. It is especially useful when I'm
adapting an EOS lens. Now when we did he splash drops last weekend I went to single AF and then to manual focus.

Paid a deposit for my pre order on A7mkiii :)

Sold my drone and a6000, just the A7mkii to go. I've missed the first shipment, but will get one as soon as next shipment arrives :)

Gaab sounds like you are very very close!

I'm on the verge of selling one too, the a6500--handed it to a co-worker tonight with the SEL PZ 18-200 attached. His college kid is doing
video school projects and I'd like to get ready for the a7000 IF it ever comes. That said looking back at my last 4 trips I've taken the a6500
but not used it :( So maybe I've become a fullframer after all this time.

Threw the kids in the car and drove to the beach after seeing "partly cloudy" on the weather report and assuming that I'd see the same fluffy white clouds at the beach that were hovering over my house. Nope. The cloud cover was so dense and uniform no one could even tell where the sun was. Decided to dig through my hard drive for another old image to edit. This one from November. Such is life, either I have free time but the weather isn't right, or the light is great and I'm too busy. -?

Submitting this photo to my little local photography club competition of "Winter Scenes".
This photo is extremely influenced by my lurking on this thread:
a) taken with the Laowa 15 f/4 - seen here
b) adjusted with a lens profile I'd NEVER known about if not for this thread
c) edited in part with Lumenzia because of this thread (got a LONG way to go with that)

oh that's not good.. i hope adorama doesn't follow..

i like that my ups guy is consistent .. while my fedex guy is not

yeah, my UPS deliveries both at work and at home were consistent, both with time of day they arrived and the tracking never had issues...storms in the NE or not. The one that was supposed to arrive Saturday has been in ATL since Friday...yet it shows that it has not moved, and there is no delivery date shown...another that says it should arrive today...but as of last night was still in NJ...so hard to believe...

Wow, I guess it wasn’t just me. My new CPLs were a day late.

I made a point of criticizing their usage of Fedex on the BH after sale survey.

I intend to do so as well...along with their new boxes they use while easy to get into...can't be re-used, they tear open...it seems small, but to me that is more waste, I try to re-use boxes...I use them at work all the time.

Neither of my Sony's get used in AF-S...always AF-C. I was able to shoot runners with the 85GM in AF-C...

See I experience the opposite. FedEx is always by noon and UPS can deliver 2pm to 8pm. Sucks waiting on a package.

I like fedex too because i get my stuff by noon vs late afternoon usually by ups. Also with fedex we can customized delivery. I always have it hold on location and i’ll pick it up. Good for when you have lots of other errands in the day or when your wife don’t know about the purchase :) ;p You can also with UPS but you need to call whereas with Fedex you can just do it online.

is there any reason to use AF-S with native lenses? I'm pretty much always in AF-C, and you can use either BBAF or BBMF to control when focus should stop. My only exception would be techart due to its finnicky nature.

.. it's just the way ive always done it since I first got canon t4i.
Everything I read said single for still or slow moving subject and ai servo for action.
So I've carried that over to every system i use.
I do put it in afc. Sometimes . But always revert back to afs..
Feel kinda stupid:lol: now... i tested it for 2 days and didn't atleast try it in afc before putting it back in the box,, i just assumed it would be worse

I shoot stills in AF-s and moving in AF-c. I think I do this cause I like to hear the AF confirmation beep which happens in AF-s, not continuous.

The green square lighting up does that for me...ninja mode is even more quiet...
