Some great shots this week! Gonna be hard to choose!

Please excuse the iPhone shot but as I understand it's a Sony sensor ;-)a.

Yours truly kayaking the North Fork of the Payette river this morning in a blizzard....in a GREEN boat!

that is a wildly unique image, I think I can say I have never seen anyone kayaking in a river through snow...

my entry for the week..."Ferns"...did my shoot in the botanical gardens yesterday, and these HUGE ferns were unfurling and waking up due to the rain and warmer temps coming on here in the Bay area. I love ferns, love the greens, and the textures of them. I have never seen them this big.

Wow! Love the fern shot Travis!!Some really creative shots this week!! Judging is going to be very difficult.....

Here's another shot from the river yesterday. It was snowing so hard for the first mile or so that we could barely see. Here one of me in the run out of the first big drop. Ran that one virtually blind!

The NF Payette is a world renowned 15mile section of big class V white water. The flow in these shots is about 1100 cubic feet per second. I'd call it "low end of a medium flow". Spring and summer this thing can really get cranking. 3000-4000 CFS is not uncommon with ~2000 being the norm. We paddled it at >9000 some years ago during record high water year. Lets just say that was rowdy!

Nice!

How long will you be in the Bay Area and are you coming up to the North Coast at all?

Will be here until Thursday morning, not planning to go too far north this trip.

We're just a little north of Petaluma, but leaving for Sicily Thursday. I was out at Bodega Head this morning to check out the whale migration, but didn't see much.
