Lee, I kept waiting for the bottom of the image to load. Then I realized it was snow. Cool illusion.

Specifically, I can't remember .. I watched a bunch..

I'm not really interested in it.. but I still like to keep up.

I watch a variety of camera reviews regardless of whether Im interested or not

Last night's efforts :)
First a pull back for Gene and one of the snaps (over 1400 again Lee :)
The pull back was 5 brackets and Vinz a stab at using RayaPro3 (not a clue what I'm doing--didn't you make
a vid????). Low light in the splash area so Poof had to hold still 3-5 seconds 5 times!
Oh, forgot for those curious. For the pull back I put a Zeiss Touitt on the a9 :)

The splash/macro table has been upgraded with channels that allow the drip machine and/or the backdrop to be moved
for or aft depending on need.
This is the set up where we flashed the background only and no flash directed at the drops.

Lovely shot and thanks for the pull back. I in particular like the touch of blue near the base of the splash, reminds me of Harry Potters scar :)

Awesome results MM and thanks for the pullback too. I'm sure I'll have a couple of questions after I study it a bit.

I normally bring both my Canon and Sony when I do portraits, mainly a trust factor with my Canon, but I decided to do all of these with just my a6500. I also found out that I have eye AF when using the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II, bonus!!!

Great shots Carlo!
So when you're out and about with the ad200 are you having your wife hold it off camera? You're not bringing a light stand are you?

EDIT....Nevermind, I spotted it in the stroller!

Lol yeah. Sometimes I used the stroller...sometimes I placed it on a trash can or a nearby ledge or something. Other times my 9 year old son was put on lighting duty.

vinmunoz wrote in post #18587863 (external link)
really soft light coming from that MagBounce even at strong power since you're at 1/8000

Carlo do you think the Magbounce is better at wedding receptions or only when there's high or no ceiling? I asked because i did not buy that one. I just bought the MagSphere.

EDIT: I can also use only the magbounce and if i want a more diffuse light, i will rotate it facing backward. or if i want a more directional light when there's walls, i can face it to the wall where i want. a lot of amazon reviewers though said it's heavy.

The light is actually kind of hard...its a small light source either way so the physics are what they are if you're not bouncing some of the light off another surface for fill. It's definitely not going to replace my big octaboxes.

For bounce flash, my go-to is still using the black foamie thingie method with the flashbender.

I think the magbounce works best as an off camera directional key light, with strong ambient light to act as fill. When the sun set on me and the ambient light was low, the light looks really hard. But it's really good for what it is if you use it correctly.

I do want to add the magsphere at one point for non-directional bounce flash (anti-black foamie thingie method) when the situation calls for that.

Basically all of these light modif are situational...which makes them a GAS nightmare.

Charlie wrote in post #18587882 (external link)
You got me GASSY as heck, I looked up the mag mod, never saw that type of modifier. Only saw gels will definitely look for a mag kit, thanks for this.

Oh yeah its a super convenient system

Nice. You're really tempting me to pick one up. We're heading back to WDW for the first time in 3 years and I think having an AD200 that I can hand to my wife so she can hold it and I can shoot would work really well. I was thinking about bringing my AD360, but I think that might be a bit ungainly.

The AD360 is pretty impractical because of the need for a battery pack. As usual, my wife did her usual "really?" reaction when I first pulled the AD200 out. But then she saw how the photos looked and she was all for it for the rest of the trip.

Scatterbrained wrote in post #18587967 (external link)
I don't think the light is that soft, the shadows cast by the magbounce still look fairly hard, it looks more like a really good balance of soft ambient and fill.

My thoughts exactly!
