Do you miss your 200L Sir ?

In the world of GAS hobbyist extreme the key to success is never look back. No lie.

Sadly my own condition, though G.A.S. related, is also very steeped in youthful "have not" "pack rat-ism", and using collection as a salve.

It is nothing short of miraculous that this lens, the f/1.8, so long the ultimate object of my G.A.S. affliction, has managed to be "let go" by me,... TWICE!

I must be growing up!

The first time (2008) resulted in me "securing" the woman that became my wife! So no regrets there. A reasonable trade to be sure

When finances swung back into my favor I got one again. That one i sold too, but to be fair, only after two years of owning it side by side with the newer f/2,. and being unable to part with either. I finally did it to help fund the 500mm f/4L II which I use MUCH more often.

If I only I could own them all, even they were just on shelf! (but wouldn't that be a shame too? Better that someone is using it!)

That's how I feel. I gave it up because my long lens I really need to be able to track so I swapped it out in a trade for the 70-200 2.8 GM and 85 1.4 GM plus cash. It was a fair trade. I'm moving to sony for awhile. If Canon comes out with something comparable to the A7R3 then I'll switch back perhaps who knows.

If I was just doing portraits then I would of kept the 200/2 but I really need native tracking capabilities so the 70-200 is my compromise.

Good thing is it's really sharp and the AF is spot on and the R3 has some awesome resolution that surpasses the 5D4. Had the 5DsR been able to ISO up to 50k and shoot 10fps I would of stayed with Canon.

For the record the Sigma 85 and 135 Art is just as sharp if not sharper than the 200/2. Renders very close. I'll pickup a 135 1.8 to be my "poor man" 200/2 but in native sony. Should be a bit more usable and lighter.

Talley... May I inquire on what type of photography you shoot?

I'm just a husband and dad to 4 kids. Just want to shoot them as they grow and try to fill in various other things in the mean time. I like all aspects to photography so I really like learning and trying new things. I'm not that good but I get better as time moves on.

Kinda hard to do any photography when your waking up at 3:30a leave the house at 4:20a driving 1.4hr to work then working 14hrs then drive 1.4hr back home then bed by 10pm and repeat for the past 3 months.

I'm tired. We finally finished cutovers so I'm back on a 5/10 schedule and have weekends off but now I'm backlogged on projects around the house. It never ends.
