What would they have to do with dynamic range?

Perhaps you mistakenly assumed that low DR affects all photos?

Pippan wrote in post #18585497 (external link)
I think they call it 'irony', given the frequent criticism of this camera.

John Sheehy wrote in post #18586062 (external link)
It is more like sarcasm, and not very good, and is based on an underlying misconception about DR.

No misconception.

Pippan got it. Clearly it went right by you.

Perhaps you should re-read his comment.

The camera is not frequently criticized regarding taking pictures like those. They look fairly well lit. Even the banding-prone 5D2 gave me good photos when the light was cooperative or manipulated.

I'm pleased to report that I've joined the 6D mkii club! I've bought this as a second body to go with my 5D mkiv. As I mostly shoot airshows the flippy screen will hopefully save my knees in the static park. This was my first shoot using the new body, featuring one of the last British Army Lynx aircraft in its retirement scheme.

I like this a lot. Many levels of depth, great backlight and contrast, urban but calm.

So I am not a pro, but I have been shooting with everything under the sun for the last decade. I recently moved from Fuji which I was quite fond of back to Canon mostly because I missed the handling of Canon which IMHO is far superior to mirror less. I don’t quite understand all the negative reviews as I find this camera to be one of the best I have ever used, but I understand that’s subjective. Also as someone who was quite fond of Fuji JPEGs I actually find Canon’s to be fantastic (I am liking the image quality over Fuji which says quite a bit). Anyways this is just a quick snap using the 50 1.4, SOOC JPEG. As a side note, I was trying to decide whether to pick the 50 1.8 STM or 50 1.4 (so bought both) and the reviews seemed to indicate the STM is better, I guess this is another reason I quit reading reviews as I find the 50 1.4 superior, it just has a lovely way of rendering and more punch to my eyes. I also found I had more OOF shots with the STM.

That's no surprise. The 6D2 has less photon noise, and better color separation, but it has a bit more read noise, both pre-gain and post-gain, so any tonal range in which read noise plays a significant role will be cleaner with the original 6D, and those tonal ranges tend to be the most visibly noisy ones - very deep shadows, and very high ISOs. For someone shooting at ISOs of 3200 and below, though, with slide-film-like meticulous exposure for the ISO, the 6D2 gives better results.

I got to play with camera last night for the 1st time. I don't understand all the negative comments on it. Yeah the Dr isn't up to party with other cameras... But honestly just learn how to expose correctly and you won't have that issue. I'm planning on switching over from my Sony a6000 which I do love. I just don't love how expensive all the Sony lenses are and how there aren't many used options. The A7iii seems like an incredible camera but I just can't justify paying 2 grand for a camera and having to spend another almost 2 grand for a single lens. I can pick up a used 6dii and a used 17-40 l for less then a new A7iii.

Sony Alpha 6000
Lenses: Minolta 50mm F1.7 , Minolta 28mm F2.8 , Sony 16-50 f 3.5-5.6 Kit lens
Canon 5DC
Lenses: Canon 50mm 1.8 Mk ! , Tamron 28-75mm F2.8
