Thank you MM for the feedback. Yeah I know what you mean about the rail. My reason for including it was it to serve as a leading line to lead your eye up to the church. Perhaps it's too much of a distraction? I can try a square crop to cut off the bottom.

Don't listen to me! You know how much architecture I do :(

Call me crazy, I like the first better....the whole rail or nothing :)
I want you to hop in the car, drive back to the church and shoot it with you backed against
the distil tip of the rail completely removing it from the image. Will you do that for me :)

It's funny. I took some shots in front of that rail earlier in the evening when I shot this series about a month ago. Mind you this was before the lights were on so the images were not great. It was more of a warm-up. Anyway when I returned after shooting other locations downtown, I noticed the lights were on and the stained glass looked nice so I grabbed some shots but from the bottom of the steps for the reason I mentioned earlier. I should have taken some from the top of the steps too. Oh well, no problem. I want to re-shoot it with better conditions anyway.

Help me more please.
'A V860II w/orange gel on the floor behind the stand, and the round shoot through over it,
Behind the stand? Is the 'stand' holding the bottle? That stand?
'round shoot through over it'. Through it or over it? I don't get it. But I want to understand.

A 5 n 1 is a circular reflector with an outer reversable cover usually made up of black/white/silver/gold material. When the covers are removed, a white translucent diffusing material is the 5th, center piece. I use them more for the diffusing than reflectng lately it seems.

With the gelled flash on the floor and covered with the translucent diffuser, they are pointed up at the background. That will create a larger, softer light up towards the background.

Here's a link for a 43" 5 n 1

I kept putting off editing this one until tonight. I guess I wasn't in the mood to edit it until now. Do you guys find yourselves in that situation too?

I think the lines would be stronger if you had been centered on the stair railing and let the shadow be the leading line.

Seeing as we all look at things differently..... It's not the handrail or shadow being in the shot I find awkward, it's the fact that it cuts (what is to me) the main feature of that arched doorway straight in half... Personally, I'd be moving left or right a touch.... ;)

Using the a9 completely opposite of what it was designed for. Studio headshots.
