Headed to Moab tomorrow. I'd like to think I'll get some nice shots but in reality its a family trip with emphasis on biking and hiking....none of which will be done at sunrise or sunset. I'm kinda considering making the pre-dawn trip to Mesa arch in canyonlands NP. I've never been there and I guess it's a quick walk to the arch. Who knows...I'll just be happy to be there! You folks will certainly have to endure some family pics if nothing else! ;-)a

Get there early before the crowds get the good location for the shot and definitely bracket

One question. Do I need to buy these cleaning swabs they recommend https://www.amazon.com …smid=A2LXBKOLL3J3K6&psc=1 (external link) in order to use the Smear Away solution or can I use these that I used with the Aeroclipse https://www.bhphotovideo.com …ox_ultra_swab_type_3.html (external link)

Mesa Arch at sunrise is pretty magical! Get there early to beat the crowd for a spot to shoot!

The FE 35 is very good, and I typically choose that lens over the voigtlander 35......

I might even sell the voigtlander, not sure I want to deal with non native stuff anymore save my landscape kit, which I truly love.

Really nice!

It’s tempting to me to sell my Loxia 35 and FE 35 1.4 and go with CV 40 1.2 and FE 35 2.8. Probably won’t...but tempting. :)

Definitely give the FE 50 1.8 a try. It's pretty awesome for the price.

Fe55 is nice too for the Zeiss rendering, but it's on the pricier side of things

I have the 21, 35, 50/1.8 and the 85/1.8. I need to just stop. It is the perfect kit for me.

Totally agree. That’s going on my long term to do list - organizing a big photography workshop with POTN people pitching in their personal expertise. We have plenty of talent here (excluding me  )

Also struggling mightily against the temptation to sell my FE 55 and go big with the FE 50 1.4. Reason is because I sorely miss having the Otus and the FE 50mm is probably the closest thing to it in native e-mount: super sharp/high contrast. Doubtful the bokeh can touch the Otus though.

I give myself a 55% chance of succumbing to this 55-for-50 temptation. ;)

I posted a few days ago about my frustration with how disorganized and unhelpful I found SPS (Sony Pro Services). Well, I'm happy to report that after a second call, things got mainly cleared up. They put an expedited request on my a9 hotshoe repair (idk why they didn't do that in the first place) and they also put in a replacement request (again, not sure why they didn't do that the first call. I definitely requested one).

They got my camera back to me yesterday for my event this weekend. A replacement A9 also arrived yesterday haha. This doesn't really help them on the organization front (seems like the repair shop and SPS don't communicate that well with each other) but I'm glad everything got taken care of, and better to have two A9s for my event than zero haha.

Up to you. To me a swab is a swab. I didn't fall into their dire warning about using anything but theirs but I'm like that.
But you did get the point I use both solutions-not at the same time, but one works when the other doesn't and vice versa.
Also, if you fly the Smear away is non-flammable, bonus.

Yes you need to go, at least once. My being the anti-social old bustard I am, well I got two trips out of one---first and last. It is a remarkable place but Eriet will tell you the American southwest has a gazillion awesome places to shoot and many without feeling like a sardine in a can.
If I did return I feel I know so much more now and could bang it up better but I have the t-shirt :)

Not that I use flash (well I did once for an owl) on the a9 but I too need to get this repair done. I'll google the link unless you know it off the heart.
