Makes me way jealous. The core is back in my 'hood' but 58 days of 70 now with rain rain rain.....and of course rain clouds.
I've got the Laowa 15/2 and recently added an Ioptron Skytracker Pro to play with....so far a waste of money for my area.
59 days away from Newfoundland, maybe better luck with the weather there.
So living through your lens and this wonderful capture--keep them coming.

I was out at 5am for shooting this morning, much less epic scenery.

I’de bring an utrawide zoom or stitch if needed. Zooms were made for unknown territory

That and I didn't know how far I'd truly have to walk to get there. The 10-18 is super light, my rational :)

Amazing!!! Incredible!!!

Ok, so I’m here and have 5 full days starting tomorrow. If I do decide to go to Mesa can I ask what 35mm equiv (FF) focal length people shoot at this location?

Bianchi...what FL was your shot made?

5280Pics....what FL was your shot made?

MedMan.....your FL?

I don’t want to show up and fumble as it will be crazy early and it’ll likely be combat photography.

That said, no one hate on me if I flake on Mesa. It will require a mega early mission (which admittedly I’m not good at) and I don’t do combat photography. But, it is an iconic shot and I’d love to try one myself.

You'll do fine! Early is good. I remember it being chilly walking in so don't forget a layer. Even better I'd also take a small thermo of coffee.

Nice capture of a beautiful bird.

Did you apply noise reduction on this 4000 iso image? The head feathers seem a bit smooth to me for some reason.

Gene not to the bird other than the ACR default, but yes to the background on a separate layer to smooth out the bokeh, then masked the original bird back in
if that makes sense.
Yeah a perched bird at ISO 4000, but I was hoping he'd fly my way (didn't happen) and had the shutter at 1/1600. I'll take noise
over motiion blur if given a choice. Sun had not topped the trees yet/early morn.

Yep the Red-shouldered hawk is gorgeous, even prettier than my Red-tail in the backyard but our Red-tails are way way bigger and
more impossing/more raptor like.

I want to capture one of these Milky Way shots badly but living in the suburbs there is still too much light pollution. I'm going to have to plan this out....

Excellent shot by the way!

Thank you! I use this site to help plan those trips where I will find the best places to shoot the Milkyway. Being in TN, you're really pressed to find some "Dark Sky!

In addition to my clear aperitif glasses, I have 4 pink ones too. I thought I'd play with a white background for one of them. I used my 24" softbox as the background and added one stripbox firing from front left.

Volcanic! :-)

I started to mess around with splashes today too. This is the first time I've ever tried it and since my trigger hasn't even been shipped yet, this is all manual.
