Having a lightroom issue. A lot of my files are on my NAS under P:/Photos. I have right clicked on the P: and selected find missing folder and reestablished the link to the NAS but I am still getting some of the folders showing the "?" as if the folder cant be found. However when I click into the folders via lightroom all the files are there and I can edit etc.

As you can see below there is a ? against 2012 folder but within that folder all the subfolders are shown with white text and when I go into them the files are there

Any ideas?

EDIT - I shut down lightroom and initiated the backup catalogue function. I then restarted it and all the ? are gone!. Not sure what all that was about but Im now less anxious

Sorry the multiple posts and earlier errors on first two posts. I forgot about a meeting I had until my bosses boss reminded me about it....OUCH! Just got out and now finishing my posts. Another thing. I couldn't figure out how to post all four photos into one post. Sorry about that.

4th and last photo with both 10mm and 16mm extension tubes attached:

Have you added the subfolders to your catalog and not the main year folder somehow?

All sorted, some sort of glitch that sorted itself out with a restart

Looks cool. You should do a composite of a street scene or something. It's a really realistic looking figure!

Thanks for the input Ed much appreciated. I very rarely find myself trying to shoot in low light - however this does raise a question... would using a tripod and keeping the iso down give reasonable low light images given a static scene? Also a good idea regarding renting one. Off to look for a company in UK that does rental ;-)a
Jamie

Ha! My bad, I should have noticed you were in the UK.

A tripod would work fine for keeping the ISO down, the only other thing I would mention that even though the the lens is an f4 at the long end, because of the sensor size, you get a full frame equivalent of about f11 for depth of field. For wildlife that is usually not a problem, but if you are trying to get big separation or a really narrow depth of field, it could be an issue.

nice. now you can try focus stacking to get more DOF.

Yes. I'll try that. Thanks for reminding me. Question: How do I process stacks? I've not done stacking before (except for stacking camera/lens boxes...lol). Can photoshop or lightroom do it?

That’s interesting. I’m about to sell my 90 macro but hadn’t really thought about tubes on my GM zoom or other lenses

I was going to buy the 90 macro, but after buying 24-70 2.8 GM, 70-200 2.8GM, and 100-400GM and 2x TC in a short period of time, I couldn't justify the 90 macro at this time. Definitely on my list of future purchases though.

I'm actually going to try the extension tubes with the telephoto lenses just to see what happens. :-D
