Perhaps borrow/rent/steal a 2x TC for the 50-140, that'll get you close with only a slight loss in quality. Might be worth a try.

Thanks for the link.. yes , those type of photos are the goal.
Seems like with any other type of photography, half is the skill of photography (exposure/lighting) and the other half is presentation/composition

Yep, 100%. Some left over 'mess' of ingredients can work wonders along with some complimentary colours. Easy on paper this photo thing ;-)a

Organising our first 'official' photo walk in Ireland for next month. Forgot to take the lead shot today as I was just playing catchup all day. Took this one on my induction hob at home with one small LED panel. Had drawn out the shot about half burying a load of Fuji lenses and cameras in beans in the cooling tray of a coffee roasting machine but time fell short so this will have to do.

Food photography/still life requires a lot of prep, Andrew Scrivani is one of my favorites because of his use of heavy shadows. https://www.andrewscrivani.com (external link)
The one thing I like about food photography is you can get excellent results with a minimal setup. A big window, props to show depth, white foam boards and reflectors make a world of a difference .

If your a sharpness seeker you should just consider the A7Riii as this will be a detail king compared to our fuji bodies.

Don't forget about the big bubba GFX.:) Hopefully next yr at 100MP too.

They've got specials on lots of Fuji gear.
gfx is also on that list. body plus one lens for about $7500~ .. depending on the lens could be a couple hundred less or more.
The rumors are that there is a 100mp coming out (within the year possibly?) , i wonder what that might do to the price of the current model.

I am very tempted by the Fuji medium format , who knows maybe in a year or two i just might do it .. its that price though:eek:
Not saying its not worth it , just have a hard time accepting it
anyway for now my current big megapixel camera (a7r3) plus the 85 GM produce beautiful images so there is no rush.. thought i admit i sometimes think if i sold the sony setup i'd be halfway to Fuji medium format..
it is a pain switching back and forth between systems .. i suppose if i just keep doing it long enough muscle memory will eventually kick in ,, but for now i often forget which system i'm using and end up hitting the wrong buttons or need to take second to remember .luckily the 85 gm has an aperture ring just like Fuji lenses so that's helped out a bit.. I've tried setting them up similarly but they are a bit different... the xh1 and gf50s are almost(if not exactly ) identical in terms of layout so that makes it even more tempting.
it would be the perfect pair for travel/vacation photography , the xh1 with the 16-55 zoom and the gf50s with a nice prime (63mm)
but then there's the gf50r rumored to be announced soon(?) supposedly a couple thousand cheaper.(same sensor but in an xpro2 type body)
anyway i'm just rambling on ..

really i just wish sony and Fuji would stop making cameras for at least 5 years;-)a

I told my wife in 3 years I’m getting a medium format camera. She’s fine with that :-D.

One of the first bands I shot when starting out was P.A.M.F. (Pussy Ass Mother Fu....kers). Pete PAMF as he is now known played a gig in a tiny venue last night so I popped in and took a few snaps, hadn't shot a gig in ages so was fun. I also had played in his band for a couple of years & my brother [amazing keys player] joined us, playing Uilleann Pipes, to form a new band. It was great to hear the old tunes again.

I sold bunch of my stuff (well not exactly, I need to sell quite a bit, but that's what I told the wife). I was able to get GFX and 110mm f2 for < $7800. The 110mm seems quite a nice lens. To me it seems like 200mm f2. or a notch above. Just wish Fuji had more faster primes for the GFX.

i assume that as they build the line we will see them.. but thinking that makes it harder to say what a first lens should be. Personally for what i want it for a 45/110 combo would be all i need , just wish the 45 were faster than 2.8
They should have started with atleast 1 , like the 64 or even 45 at f1.8 , i'm sure it'd be big and heavy but nice to have the option.
