What is CAF?

Harry CAF is also CDAF=contract detect auto-focus
versus
PDAF=phase detect auto-focus
Usually PDAF is better for speed and thus for BIF.
CDAF is more precise but slower.

The Olympus M1ii for example has
Phase Detection: 121 (121 Cross-Type)
Contrast Detection: 121

Whereas for example the Sony a9 has
Phase Detection: 693
Contrast Detection: 25

Compared to a Lumix G9
Contrast Detection: 225

Each manufacturer offers their own priority for each camera body.
Note that Panasonic has no PDAF points....they use DFD (depth of de-focus) technology, a
completely unique way of skinning the cat.
