As suggested elsewhere, going beyond a simple like in a multiple photo post ... like.

(probably a stretch for this week's theme, but I do love the way the M5 can get down to deck-level whereas the 1d3 can't quite get there!)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", 1D MK II converted for IR, and now an M5

They're pretty 'shrooms, but more than that, they remind me of fairy stories in children's books long ago. Some little creature should be skipping around between them.

There probably were little creatures nearby, but they had six or eight legs.

Wow, some really nice and wonderful interpretations of the theme.

Kevin, love the blossom-passage.
OhLook, love the plane!
fotoi, love the library pic. Great play with shadows.
Joeseph, love the mushrooms. What a pretty pic that is.

But then, I think all contributions are really nice. The above just stood out a bit more, is all.

I was down town yesterday. Bad idea. Saturday as well as Easter weekend and the centre was just clogged with tourists, blocking all the roads. I'm so glad I don't have to live there. Tourists are a plague here these days. The city has taken measures to reduce the number of tourists but I don't see it working. It's ridiculous to see that many people walk the narrow streets of the centre. I was on my bike and obviously they just take up all of the roads. They have to as there are too many of them to stay on the side-walk. It took me ages to get through.

Anyway, I took my camera with me and took some pics for the theme.

The central station has been remodelled and looks absolutely amazing. Here is one passage. The roof says AMSTERDAM. Well, what else? :-P The passage spans a broad road where cars aren't allowed. And from within the station itself you can take an escalator to the first floor where the buses are.

I took several shots with different exposures and decided I liked this high key kinda shot the best.

Then I went on to a passage that is simply beautiful. It's called Oersoep Amsterdam, meaning something like Primordial Amsterdam. It refers to all the water, the river and the canals but also to the universe itself. I only wish my pics did it justice.

A wide view with the Samyang 14mm.

Thanks, fotoi. I like that one the best too.

Another type of passage. The north of Amsterdam is cut off from the main city by the river IJ. One way for pedestrians and bicyclists to get there is by taking a ferry.

Thanks - sadly the mushrooms didn't last until the afternoon, a couple of hours after I took that shot, the birds in my back yard had eaten the entire lot!
no sign of any sick birds afterwards so I guess they weren't the poisonous kind.

Thank you! amazing how very thin the dof is when you get close to things at f/2.8 (I've bought an 85mm f/1.2 that might arrive this week from Korea so hoping it is worth the wait)
