xpfloyd wrote in post #18599458 Any of you guys ever use a monopod? I’m wondering if it could be a substitute to a tripod on an overseas trip. Was thinking that I could brace the monopod against things (walls, poles, fences etc) to achieve the same outcome without the bulk of a tripod. Has anyone done this?
Ever look into the platypod? I keep one in the bag. You can place it on ledges, tables, trash cans...whatever to turn it into a tripod. You can even use straps to attach it to light poles and what-not
xpfloyd wrote in post #18599485 Thanks Charlie, just to be clear I don’t want something that will free stand but more wondering if I could brace a monopod against something solid. I suppose that limits me to shooting from solid item locations.
yes, when leaning a non footed monopod, you have to keep your hand on the top section to keep it from twisting.
with the footed version, you can set it up to a position and the foot will act like a tripod in that it has two/three points of contact on the floor to prevent the twist. Just varying degrees of stability. I mean, the velbon I have is absolutely tiny, travel tripods dont even come close to its portability, and if you can make it work, that would be pretty handy. I typically only use it as a walking stick
I imagine with the ultrastick + manfrotto table tripod, you can make a lot of stuff work. I'm ok with carrying a travel tripod that I can toss in the baby stroller

Here's Julieanne Kost describing the updated color profiles in Adobe Camera Raw feature.

Thanks Charlie, I get you now. I’ve got a tabletop Manfrotto tripod that’s about 6” high but I recently sold my Feisol ct3442 travel tripod as I was only ever using my induro DOH!

I take it this will not be available for stand alone users?

It's doable even with kids! Remember the old a7r days when AF with adapted glass was so terrible that we were all MF guys?
Any reason to not use the M-Mount version with the tap?

Looks mighty tempting. I would get one if I didn't already have the Zeiss 35mm f2 ZE.
