I played around with this some to emphasize the fog/steam above the water. Dehaze was suggested to me, and while that worked I felt like it started looking a little unnatural. I ended up using a localized adjusttment with a mixture of dodging, contrast, and clarity then restricted it with a luminance range mask. The effect is subtle but it is there. Interested to hear what everyone thinks.

This is NOT a criticism, but a curiosity: Assuming you have LR, what would happen if you turned down dehaze on the water? Would it bring out more steam?

Good question. It may very well do that although I don't have any dehaze on the image at all. Nothing stopping me from adding some negative dehaze locally...perhaps some negative contrast in that area too. I'll give it a shot and add to the same post a little later. Thank you.

I added another version to the post (https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18604496). I ended up using exposure, contrast, and clarity in a localized adjustment then restricted it with a luminance range mask. Dehaze had an effect but to my eyes started looking unnatural. I was able to emphasize it a little more, I think it still appears realistic. Let me know what you think.
