A couple of shots from the last visit with my mom before she moved to South Carolina. We went to visit her mom, probably the last time all of us will be together :(

Spent yesterday running around the Lowcountry (area around Charleston, SC) goofing off with my wife.

Played with the fisheye a little bit - Biggin Church Ruins (external link) (link contains history of the site). Plan on coming back here later in the day with some lighting for portraits.

Played around at the beaches afterwards and caught the sunset from Fort Moultrie (external link) where I tried my hand at some long exposure stuff. This one was 2 minutes, complete with what appears to be filter smudge :/

And witnessed a beautiful sunset over Charleston:

" X-H1 is more scratch resistant overall as the camera has a new coating, which has an 8H hardness rating, up from 5H on the X-T2."

apparently no gimmick in that claim.. a7r3 vs xh1.. i use both equally (more or less ). and the Fuji has shown that it really is more resistant to paint wearing/chipping/scratching

i like the black rapid , but hate that it does rub , I'm sure eventually the Fuji will wear down..but so far no signs of any thing of that nature

Practicing her food photography at Panera this morning
she's using my old rebel t4i (650D) for now ..still trying to understand the basics of exposure.

She needs something versatile , photo and video. the old rebel isn't that great at video as it doesn't have canons dpaf.. she'll probably end up getting one of the latest rebels soon

gotta say its been nice lately .. me talking about photography and settings and she's actually paying attention and asking questions!! .. life is funny

That’s awesome!
My wife was “editing” an Instagram photo and I leaned over and told her to reduce the highlights and she said “what filter is that?” :-P

Family day out to my parents house yesterday, my mom asked me to take a photo of her grandkids, they let me pose them a little bit but only for a few seconds before the mayhem returned, just got a shot in. Interesting to see who messes and who takes the instruction, always the same with kids though. Had the X-T1 with a 23/1.4 and a Godox flash on me, glad the flash was in the bag for the kids shot.

My mother in her 70's now.

Free stuff that is that nice you'll never sell, I got a free Fuji branded brown cardboard box once... Still have it.

I have all my camera set to release priority, did you find the shutter goes off too easily on the X-H1?

before Fuji.. i had this struggle with the sony a7sii (which i thought was due to being contrast detect only) but then i added an a6500 which was supposed to be sony best AF'ing mirrorless camera(at the time) and i was still having issues.
2 different things played a role ,, one being release priority vs focus .

so I've been setting all my cameras to focus since then,, its one of the first things i do.

ok so now for this particular case , something else could have played a role.. maybe?
i was using a larger than normal focus point/area... but the majority of that square was on my subject , i assume the camera would know that that is what i wanted in focus... so maybe this combined with release priority?

who knows but it certainly was day with a lot of missed focus pics.. so yeah maybe the xh1 was a bit too easy on shutter release.

Another issue , that i hope is card related. ive had 2 separate moments where the camera would give me a read error , and then on the other occasion a write error.. i have to power down and restart.. the read error picture is gone, but i can shoot again and review images like normal..
and same with write error.. restart and then i can resume taking photos.

I've formatted the same card , its been about 5 days since the second time it happened. its a quality sd card , sandisk extreme pro. but i have had it for 2 years .. hoping its a card issue

Yes it should really know, I gave up using any of the big AF points in single, found that I got the best results when using the smallest two or three or face/eye detect. Although I have to remember that the camera has a meter setting specific to eye/face detect so if you are riding the Auto ISO it tends to expose a little brighter.

Card errors are usually a connection problem, are you contacts clean? Or there might be a little bug in the FW somewhere, lease I read that a while ago. I think Fuji released a selection of 'approved' cards for the X-H1 & the Sandisk UHS-ii SDSDXPB was mentioned as the only Sandisk. No idea how that relates really though other than both the SD slots support the much faster USH-ii cards [as opposed to only one slot supporting the modern high speed cards on the Sony]. Shouldn't matter for photos though. Oh you are on FW 1.01?

Anyone have a 16-55 they'd be willing to let go in trade for a 18-55, 35 f2 and X500 speedlite?
All three of these are line new and barely used.

Since I bought the 23 and 50 f2's I just don't see myself using the 35 that much (I'm not a big fan of the 50mm FL) and I think the 16-55 might be a good choice for me.
