I am (and have been for a long time) in the process of scanning and organizing a collection of photos that we took on an out west trip in 2004.

I have been able to locate where many of the photos were taken, but I have ran into a snag in locating just where I took this one.

As these two cabooses were sitting in plain view from a major highway somewhere in Colorado (at least I think it is Colorado; other possibles are Kansas, Arizona, and New Mexico), I figured the web would be completely plastered with photos of them, but I have found nary a one.

The two cabooses, a Santa Fe and a D&RGW, have been walled- and glassed-in and converted into some sort of living quarters.

The photo was taken in June-2004.

The camera was a very cheap fixed-lens 35mm film camera and the photo is a scan of a 5x7 print; it was most likely taken from a moving vehicle as well.

If anyone knows where this is, which highway number, closest town, etc., I would appreciate it.

Thanks for reading.

Thank You ! Thank You ! THANK YOU !

I bet I looked at ten thousand pictures, trying to find that.

You have been a great help and it is appreciated.

We did ride the Durango & Silverton in June of 2004 and spent three days in the Durango vicinity.

Well....., it isn't any wonder that I was having such a hard time finding any location info on those two cabooses; they have been relocated at least as long ago as October 2012.

I was looking at a photo, dated October-2012, of a rail-crane that sits in the Silverton, Colorado rail-yard; and, way back in the distance, I spotted the two cabooses.

So, I brought up a Google satellite view; and, sure enough, there they sit, right on the corner of Cement and E 10th St, in Silverton, Colorado.

I would have posted a screen-shot, but I wasn't sure if that was okay.

Thanks so much for the help.
