I'm a low volume ball python breeder which is great because it keeps me behind the camera when new babies arrive. I guess you could call it product style photography. Overall, I'm happy with the quality and composition of most of my photos but I'm trying to improve on the reflections in the eye. My current set up typically creates a hard line through the eye and the reflector to the right gives a weird looking reflection as well. It's a nitpick that's only visible when zooming in or really tight macro shots but...could still be improved upon. I was thinking of adding a second flash and softbox. Any suggestions? I'm all ears.

Beautiful animal there!

For the shots, I would strongly recommend starting with a black background instead of a white one, as well as blacking out the rear wall of the space. Those appear to be the primary cause of the crossways reflection showing in these. From there, I'm not quite sure about adjusting the actual lighting, as I don't work with external lights much more than when monkeying with my speedlight occasionally.

I *think* possibly using some sort of flag to keep the main light off the eye, and then using a ring light or something with a more pleasing reflection shape down lower to create the catch light?
