Really not sure what I think about his one. I like it because it has an impressionistic feel, but it also a little out of my comfort zone. I tried to process it to enhance that impressionistic feel without losing the sense of reality. Interested to hear what you guys think about it.

I like your photos very much, John, but this one doesn't work for me. My eyes keep wandering around the photo, but they don't find anything to land on. If I do an image search for impressionist art, most of the images do have a focal point. Yours is a bit too abstract for me.

Regards, Jim

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

I think it would have worked better with a shallower DOF and stronger/compelling silhouette forms/lines/patterns.

So either A: Stand closer/wider angle/thicker tree's or B: More distance, compress.

See: https://photography-on-the.net …read.php?t=1447742&page=1

A few winners in there, but plan on clicking next page a lot!

Mother Powerful owl. Still showing the stains from time in the nest hollow last year. (Chest and particularly tail feathers)
She should be going back inside in 4 weeks.

Jim,

First I very much appreciate the feedback. I can see your point regarding the focus of the image. As I said I had mixed feelings about it, and I think what I liked more than anything was the contrast in color of the leaves. It was a situation in which I was walking along the trail and saw a "window" through the trees with this view. I set up real quick and snapped a few frames. Thank you very much again.

Thank you Mark, and I agree with your assessment. I didn't really put a lot of thought into the shot and in retrospect I should have. Having said that, standing closer wasn't a possibility where this was taken, but I certainly could have adjusted the DOF.

Beautiful. I'm guessing your cropped it... and if that is the case... well done. Very engaging photograph.
