Looking for help with pricing individual high res files!!
In this case there was no day rate of fee charged up front I am a pro shooter
and specialize in shooting horses. Iwas attending a show and got some nice shots that the client is now interested in buying (high res files)
They could use files for print FB and possibly magazine advertising I would not be licensing the files Like to keep things simple in this case
Thank you

Don't sell the file. Sell usage rights. If you sell the file you can no longer use it for anything.

A licensing agreement will be whatever the two parties agree upon. You will not lose your Copyright if you don’t want to but an edited TIFF file may serve you both better. Just because someone processes a RAW file doesn’t mean they own it’s Intellectual Property.

Can you clarify what you mean by....

....I would not be licensing the files

Do you mean you want to sell/give away the copyright or do you actually mean you want to license them for a one off flat fee but keep the copyright?

In this case, I would consider word of mouth advertising valuable and would sell the collection of photos with a release agreement that the one person can reproduce as needed, but you retain the rights, at a price that is a bit under what others might ask.

So perhaps you price a release copy of each file for $5 with a minimum fee of $200 and a max cap at $300? This way you make some money and keep the rights.

I have been known to sell a complete set of wedding photos as 4x6s for some amount of money, and invariably different families all order a set of these. 4x6 are easy to print out for cheap in bulk so it is a good money maker. Some families just want snapshots for memories. Nice little icing on the cake for a paid gig...
