That's very nice, Jack. It's sitting right back on its heels, so I hope it was OK, as the only time I have seen a bird walk/crawl using its whole foot rather than just the toes, was a partridge chick that had become weak because it was too cold.

Thanks! It seemed OK when it flew in. That orange thing in front of it is a biscuit (cookie) that it had found in the long grass in the rear of the photo and it was in the process of eating it. It's not good for them to be doing this, but it's their opportunism and fearlessness of humans that makes them so well loved. They do have a bit of a reputation for ripping the rubber bits off cars and poking their heads into people's bags though!
