Turtle Dove, the first in the UK, where they are rare; the second in Dordogne, France, where they are more common, although you hear them more than you see them.

Great shots of that beautiful Toucan.

Thanks for the ID and for showing the rest of the Barbets. Bit of a scruffy crew, though, especially the Crested, or did you catch them on a bad day?:-)

Thanks, Jack. Alas, we haven't seen or heard a Turtle Dove at the UK site for years, although we haven't tried this year yet. There used to be several breeding there, but gradually the numbers dwindled and when I took the shot about 4 years ago, there was just a single pair, I think.

Hey..the Crested is absolutely the best of the bunch !!!

Here he is in more mellow mood......with his hair slicked back and ready to hit the town. (This is a re-post)

Super. Are they still around? I drove through your area over weekend on a leisurely drive from Point Pelee...-and thought about your owls.

OK, he looks much smarter, but his dress sense is still rather eccentric, like he's a fan of Vivien Westwood!

Perhaps they will, Dave! If not, I have a Red-leg, but I have no idea what a Colly Bird is, or a French Hen....
