Cowboy -- This Blue Jay's feathers were a mess. Looks like he had a bad hair day every day. The feathers going down his leg were particularly bad. They were fluffed out so bad it looked like he was wearing chaps. Hence the name Cowboy. He hung around our back yard for about two and a half years and became almost tame.

New Zealand's native birds are generally not very colourful. This Tomtit is about as striking as they get.
