My flash went Kaput so I need new one. Recommendations?

The $179 one is what I have 3 of, and then I have 2 manual, (850vII?) and the xpro trigger - but mine are all the Adorama versions so I dont' have to deal with China, as pointed out.

And yes my bag is definitely lighter as I don't have all the AA batteries to lug around (both in the flash and sets to replace). Tough units, have dropped onto padded concrete and they are fine.

Highly recommended.

Adorama Flash units.

Make sure you select the canon brand so TTL works.

Also, be patient as they do run specials, particularly around black friday/christmas.

So far I'm really liking the Flashpoint. I am having a little trouble getting it to work together with the R2 xproC transmitter, but I am inclined to believe it's completely user error.

When on top pf the camera it works flawlessly. Beautiful light, nice and even light space, bang on exposure, couldn't ask for more! But off camera I'm having a hard time getting it to perform the same. I've played around with it on manual and TTL but still cannot get the right exposure, and can't get it to have the same power output. Anyway.... like I said, mostly user error.

So 2 other questions:

1. Any favorite youtube video on using the R2 transmitter with the flashpoint out there? I'm 100% a visual learner.

2. What is your favorite light modifier to use on your flash? I'd like to buy a soft box for it, to play around outside with some portraits.

I would start first with a DIY foamboard version just to see how you like it. Very cheap and fairly effective. Once you get a feel on the size of diffuser you need, you can look for an appropriate softbox or manufactured diffuser.

Actually I forgot I own 2 Godox umbrella sofboxes that I use with my Alien Bees! I just need to get a speedlight mount bracket with the umbrella hole.

I just got an AD200(Flashpoint) from Adorama's ebay store with the recent ebay 15% off.


The Li-ion battery in my V860 is sooo convenient.
I think I'm going to sell my TT350 for a V350.
I love the size of the unit but 2AAs and a lot of high power use chews em up pretty quickly.

Not really a tutorial on using the XPro-C, more of an in-hand review, it does sort of walk you through messing about with one, even though the reviewer can't use it on-camera, since he's a Nikon shooter, and he was given the Canon version to review.

Be aware that the Adorama Flashpoint R2 units are the same as the Godox, but with Adoramas support backing it vs. dealing with China.

eg: This; https://www.adorama.co​m/fplfsmzl2ca.html is exactly the same as the V860IIc Li-ion.

I replaced all of my Canon flash with these units and am quite happy.

If it were me, I would want the support after sale and warranty, so that whether or not there is a claim during warranty, there is a way to get a broken unit (after warranty) attended to as well!
