My first time at Huntington beach pier, and was blessed with flames in the sky. Handheld FE 35 f2.8. Kind of wish I was prepared with a tamron 28-75 or something :-P

oh yeah, and a tripod and a patient wife would have helped, she was asking me to leave right BEFORE the burn, which I suspected might happen.

Robert it will be going along with the rest but not as quickly as I had envisioned since it works well. I would think it will work well with the A7RIII also. I never use it handheld.

Per request from a poster at FM.
The a7Riii + 2.0TC + 100-400GM.

Bottom line, I found AF-S the way to go if using this combo.
Forget BIF. AF-C hunt-pulses. You can still get a static shot but it's not for me.
AF-S + 2.0TC + 100-400GM was almost snappy at all focal distances in the yard.

Here is a Carpenter bee at 800mm. Distance 4-5 feet. Just a snap, but shows me
the potential of the combo.

Yep, my sensor if filthy :(

Looks fantastic, I’m not at all jealous. I used to do a lot of kayaking in my younger and single days, however here in the UK we don’t have any rivers like that. The andrenalin rush was intense and addictive

lots in Scotland!

I went on and bought a beat up 29yo 200/1.8 and love every bit of it. These are two quick handheld shots before she ran off :)
