Yeah my mac is having issues connecting. Effing high Sierra broke everything

went back to el capitan because of my issue on high sierra not mounting my external drives.

Yeaaah. You have to convert them to AFPS. You can do it via disk utility, but I don't think you can revert it. FYI, the drive I converted to AFPS is really unstable now

Of the many historic homes in Gonzales, Texas is the J.B. Wells home. The house is maintained by the Daughters of the Revolution of Texas. I'd love to see Alfredo take photographs of that home if he ever gets a chance. The wife of J. B. Wells, Josephine Henry, is my 2nd cousin 2x removed. From what I understand, many of the objects in the home are original and history says that the Colonial candlesticks there had belonged to the James Hodges family and that they were hidden in an iron kettle and submerged in the river during the "Runaway Scrape" for safe keeping. James Hodges was my 3rd great grandfather that Alfredo was kind enough to video his family cemetery for me earlier.

I believe the home is open to the public on Saturdays but it's recommended that the Chamber of Commerce be contacted for tour information.

I would love to shoot that historic home Gene. Sounds very interesting.

This.

Our fast 135s are bested.

But they are also paid-for.

That would be great. I don't know if you could photograph it without a number of visitors milling around but whatever you would be able to shoot would be awesome I"m sure. There are lots of links to get information and history on the house so I didn't post any but can if you'd like.

Hahaha! I hear ya man....I've been there. That said, I'm in the zone this year... Been having a lot of fun!

On another note....All those shots were take at f/5.6 cause I just set it up and handed it to a gal to shoot away. Although I have been a prime shooter exclusively for years now, I can't help but long for a good travel zoom. I''ve been reluctant thus far cause they are all just so slow (or HUGE if 2.8). The new sony APS-c 18-135 OSS has caught my eye. I found it on prime with a $70 off deal (apply for a CC that I'll never use). So, it's on the way....$428 to my door. I know most here are FF enthusiasts and spend much more on their gear than I do but I just had to share a little gear excitement! I haven't had a new lens (much less a zoom) since switching to sony!

What part is paid for the lens or the wife? All my gear is owned... bought and paid. Zero debt.

...the wife on the other hand :p

I certainly wasn't questioning your ability or means to purchase gear, Tally.

Parting with the money for a fast 200mm lens doesn't make fiscal sense for me, but it is fun to admire and dream.

Mickey, not sure which 135 you personally have I know a couple of contributors have the Sigma or the Sony Zeiss, I happen to have the Sigma as well ads the Canon 200 F2. I purchased the Sigma to replace the Zeiss 135 APO late last year because I was looking for an autofus 135.

I love the output from the Sigma, it's a lens that I can comfortabley use wide open and not have to be overly concerned about the sharpness. I haven't done a good side by side comparison between the Canon and the Sigma but I would be surprised if the Sigma might be just a tab sharper wide open, it's a phenomenally sharp lens, where I find it falls a bit behind the Canon is in terms of contrast, the Canon files are a bit contrastier right out of the camera. Either lens has both pros and cons, much like every other too but what I do know is that both of these lenses will be with me for a long time.

Joe

I'm far from unhappy with the 135ZA, which has AF but is not quite as perfect optically as the APO. If it had SSM AF instead of the old Minolta screwdrive AF it would be even better, but the ZA is likely on a level with the Sigma as an all-around performer. It is mostly because of the ZA that I moved over to A-mount entirely after hedging with e-mount for a couple of years.

Since there is no 200 f2 or f1.8 in a-mount, I'm absolved from temptation by default.

If I had to compare the 135ZA to my old 135L, it would be unfair in a way because I shot the 135L exclusively on a 6D save a few adapted shots on the a7r to test the AF tracking on MBIV. Finding the AF barely usable (static shots only) via MBIV was a big blow, as I really liked the 135L.

The Canon colors made the 135L sing, and the ZA runs cooler.

The 135ZA is sharper and is capable of smoother bokeh, but the difference between it and the 135L for portrait shooting don't seem stark.

Because the a99ii has eye AF, that Zony really hits in a consistent way I never did with the 135L so maybe that accentuates its advantage.

I have the 135L in the bag for tonight's gig...I figure between that, the 85GM and the 70-200GM, nothing else will get used...maybe one shot with the B25...really wish I had the FE 35 tonight...damn car repairs...

Ditto on the Canon 135L, I shot with it for years before I bought the Zeiss, my copy of the Zeiss was certainly sharper and contrastier than the Canon wide open but it came at a price in terms of weight and of course loss of autofocus. I've always admired the output from the ZA, I was really hoping to see a FE version of that lens but I don't see that in the near fruture and the Sigma is such a great lens I'm considering sending it in to have the mount coverted to FE.

have you tried the MC-11? It's native like with the newest firmware. I'm going to postpone the conversion a bit I think, I have only 1 sigma lens, and it works incredibly well adapted. With the 28-75 coming out soon, basically any of the lenses that I care to have AF will be native practically. Good days ahead.

The conversion will enable full 10fps tracking of high speed targets such as bicyclists or runners etc. Adapted they still struggle with this.

I'm adapting mine. Want to pick up a 135A only for the purpose of a light weight travel "200/2" wannabe lol
