No, they aren't. The ones near me don't let me get very close. Or they are in the middle of swamp so I make no attempt to get closer.

Jeff, it’s quite ironic: I can go to my local pond and get countless RWBB shots, but Blue Jay shots are almost impossible for me. Here you are churning out award winning Jay shots, but are challenged with the RWBBs. :p

Trade?

It took me hours to get a decent shot of this Indigo Bunting. They just love sitting higher up in trees, so it's difficult to get a clear, non-sky hole shot.

Also grabbed another shot of a Solitary Sandpiper, this time in color:

Fantastic bunting photo. Worth the wait! I've never seen one.

Spent part of the morning in the backyard watching my pair bringing food to babies (not seen yet). They are very busy. Momma especially, as you can see here. Also in the "Backyard" thread.

That's got to be the most luscious blue in the bird world!
Fantastic grab and thanks for sharing.

Absolutely, it’s such a rich, inky color. I’m hoping to get a few more shots in better light.. got a spot and perch picked out, just have to find time to go :)

5DS R the detail monster.

Certainly..., and that 400mm don´t seem to spoil the performance ....;o)) Those images are not bad at all.
(In my part of Denmark it is the highest honor to get a "not bad" said about a photo - superlatives are for people in the city...:-P)

True I know... it’s like the ducks. For me to get close to ducks is almost impossible.
