Say sports, sure. Dance, sure. Birthdays, dinners, celebrations, no way would the 200 come along. Sometimes, I can even wing a 135, but more often than not, it stays home. I’m not about all that hassle, I want to have a good time.

Good time = cell phones and go pros.

or just stick to making memories in lieu of capturing them.

FE 35 f2.8 + holster.

I generally have a good time at weddings, and that little combo is a million times better for hand off family snapshots.

Generally take it around for everything. Better to have it around and not use it, than be stuck with only phone.

Had some quality shots last week at Huntington Beach. A dinner then impromptu trip to the beach. That sorta thing doesn't happen often, that beach is nearly an hour drive from my home. Having my camera incidentally was totally nice.

I need a GoPro :-)

I have a wedding coming up in a few weeks. Family. They wanted me to shoot the wedding but wanted me to do it free. It's in Indiana. I'm in texas. I make the trip once a year and this year I'm planning around them. I respectfully declined.

Most likely I could have the tamron 28-75 by then. I'll use it and the R3 to capture some snapshots during the wedding. Nothing major. I just wanna have fun.

How's everyone been?

I guess I've been gone for a few months. Haven't really been doing much photography.

That's all about to change as I gear up for a trip to Iceland in 2 weeks.

I think it's time to bite the bullet and replace the A7R2 with an A7R3 before said trip.

I've been using the 16-35 f/2.8mk2 alot with the Sony A7iii. The combo actually works quite well with good light.

So far I've documented my youngest daughter's field trip and middle daughter's bday. The sharpness I'm achieving is actually more than I want. I've owned the 16-35 f/4IS and found it to be sharper than the f/2.8 mk2. At this moment I'm getting more than enough tack sharp images that I'm actually dumbing down the sharpness but reducing sharpness in post to remove the sony digital look.

this was also the case with the canon 70-200. most found the f4 version to be more sharp than the f2.8 version at f4. i had the f4 version and was very happy with it,

For anyone that goes on multi day hikes, you may want to consider Atlas Packs. I heard about them recently. Looks like they want to compete with Fstop and Shimoda. Looks like a very nice pack with an efficient camera carrying system.

I think at least one of these goats saw me. The others continued on their way over the hill. :)

I couldn't honestly tell you..... I don't know.

I'm reasonably happy with the cheapo SEL28-70mm & if I did replace it, I think it would be the FE24-105mm for that extra landscape reach....... Or I buy a FE70-200mm...... I don't need a fast aperture for that use. I don't think the 70-200mm would get that much use though for the local places we visit......

I have the FE85/1.8 for fast with some reach...... That's going nowhere!

The FE35/2.8 doesn't have enough separation in most instances especially forest/woodland shots. The Voigtlander 40/1.4 is lovely for it, but if I do focus stack, it 'focus breathes' <--- is that the right term?? A 35mm f/2 that's sharp wide open like the 85mm would be perfect!!

Currently\ I have the 16-35 f4 as a landscape lens with 55 and 85 when I want a bit more length, however I’m after a general walkabout lens. I’ve decided the 24-105 would be perfect, it also fills the gap between my zooms, (16-35, 100-400). I just wish Sony would hurry up and sort the supply issue out as I can’t remember the last time I saw it in stock anywhere

See, I don't tend to shoot landscapes that wide. I haven't been able to since I sold my 17-40L which was about 2013....?

One thing Sony bodies need....ambient light sensor!

I constantly underexpose things when I forget to turn the rear LCD and EVF brightness down

Highlight metering with positive EC seems to have cured my underexposure

The more and more I use the A7iii I'm finding it brutally sharp LOL!!

I'm currently just using the camera as a secondary system and find it did a fantastic job documenting my daughter's class field trip and my other daughter's Bday celebration.

I'm finally retraining my brain but the Sony render is so far from Fuji (almost black and white). I'm reducing sharpness in the sony files in POST as my eyes are almost feeling as if they are hammered aggressively with "unsharp mask" in photo shop. I'm still in shock how this sony body creates such crystal clear sharpness and vivid aggressive colour (Sony colour science). I'm still putting effort in changing my workflow with sony files vs my two other systems.

I'll have to say I am using bounced flash with Sony and the the MC-11 and canon glass hunts and it's Meh..... However this is understood. For my secondary (or third) I'm accepting how my adapted glass operates.

Still need to get native glass.
