Great shots on this page!

Shanky, your first shot is emblematic, in my opinion, on doing weight based and not age-based divisions. The ball carrier in that photo is a good 30 or 40 kg heavier than some of the other kids. At some point, it can't be safe.

I agree, I am 188 cm tall and that kid looks like he could tackle me without problems

It’s an interesting conundrum for Rugby as the weight for age thing is coming no doubt. It seems to more of an issue in the metro areas with the growing islander population. Here in the country areas it’s an issue but not nearly as prevalent.
The shots may be a bit deceiving yeah he is a big kid - has always been, but this year the other lads have started to catch him up. But he has learned to run hard and straight. He certainly wasn’t the game breaker last weekend as he would have been last year. Thanks for the C&C.

So, its official. The season is over, let the period of mourning begin as we wait for September and normality can be resumed. Some 9000 pictures later, over three clubs, four teams, approximately 130 players resulting in four year books, 41 framed prints, four cavases, 24 mugs and countless hours pitchside and in front of the computer, it's all over. Suggestions on a post card as to what I'm meant to do with my Saturdays now...

One for the Kiwis and South Africans out there!

Jacob Botica, RGC's fly half and Tiaan Loots at centre have signed for the Newport Dragons next season. RGC will miss them both for sure.

I think SA are pushing the Rugby Seven's team size rules a bit there...

A couple from a seniors game a few weeks back. I usually shoot my kids U9 & U10 so the seniors game was different but same same.
All seniors grades won so the local pub sponsor put on a free Keg. Doesn't happen very often

What AF settings to you guys use, AI servo with just center point focus? or do you play around with the focusing points?

This is usually the age group I shoot.. My 10yo son being tackle with the ball in the first pic.

I borrowed my father's 6D on the weekend. This game was at 4.30 in the afternoon with dark overcast skies and very little light. My 600D would have been useless but I was very surprised how well the 6D performed. I switched between 1/800 & 1/1000th on Tv and used the Auto ISO, I originally set the maximum at 6400 but cranked it up to 12800 and still had usable images....well, usable to share on FB anyway.
From what I could tell it performed better at ISO 3000 than my 600D does at ISO400, although I really noticed effect using full frame sensor had on the focal length compared to my crop sensor.

I've cropped both images here.

Oh and we won by the way 17-10

The sun did peak out a couple of times to put a nice glow on everything, different as I'm usually shooting at 10am
