Joe Bonamassa came through town the other night. If you get the chance to catch this show, as either a photographer or a concert-goer, do it. He burned that house to the ground...

He's a damn great guitarist! I like the first one, the sextons looks a little too much noise reduction for my likes.

Yes first shot! Nice results for that lens in a low light situation.

Interesting comment about noise reduction.

I didn't use any...

Actually it wasn't too bad. It was still relatively light out (it was an outdoor amphitheater) when the show started.

Here's one without much impact from the stage lighting:

That lens has become my go-to lens for outdoor concerts in the sunlight but I usually switch over to the 70-200m when the sun goes down or I go indoors. It's just not easy to carry them both around. I'm leaving the day after tomorrow to go to Joshua Tree Music Festival so I'll be taking it to that venue. You are getting excellent results using it, very sharp, good exposure and I'm surprised at the bokeh quality.

Appreciate the kind words

Bumping the ISO certainly helps. I started using the 100-400mm with the 6D, and found that it performs equally well with the 6D MKII.

I love Joshua Tree. I lived in San Diego for 30 years a only ever got out there twice...

Joe Bonamassa is one of the artists I've never seen but have always wanted to. I can't wait for that opportunity...

Oh wow, it looks super clean (and a little soft too). And btw, sexton was a typo for "second" for anyone who didn't pick up on it :)
