I did but the IS was appealing for wedding work.

Yes. I used flash on all of these.

I long pined for the 85mm 1.2L... glad I never got it and had the chance to snatch this up instead. The autofocus can almost keep up with a 5 year old!

Along with the 24-70 II, this 85L f/1.4 has been my go to lens for photographing my newborn these past few weeks. I have lingering doubts that I should have went with the f/1.2 for "the look", but at the same time I'm seeing that this lens has it's own look more akin to the 135L, with just sublimely beautiful colors out of camera. What surprises me most about this lens, despite all of the reviewers, is that the sharpness is really darn good, much better than what I was able to achieve with the 85L II. It's a much "cleaner" rendering than the older f/1.2 lenses (50L included), and sharpness isn't quite as obscured by aberrations. It's a give-take though, as that's where the 1.2 lenses get their look from. Oh well.

Not all is rosy, as I have experienced some weird AF misses on relatively easy shots. It's few and far between, but it happens. Generally I will take a few shots at a time just to ensure I got a solid, so that mitigates the issue.

Anyways, that's my short review.
