I decided to go stalk a mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroos that live in wetland bordering on mangroves. Some of you may remember that I've tried for them before but unlike the friendly fellers shown in adverts, mainly from the suburbs, these guys are very shy and can be aggressive when carrying joeys so my shots weren't exactly outstanding being heavily cropped and shot in wetlands on hot days.

Standing at over 1.5 metres excluding tail, it's best to make yourself as inconspicuous as possible. So I was stalking the mob who had wind of me, when this little feller jumped up in front of me. I nearly needed a change of underpants as the area is known for snakes and large goannas and I didn't know what the movement was till he stopped. He must have been fast asleep and was still drowsy and as jumpy as me because he didn't take off immediately and just looked at me as if to say, "WTF!" :) The 2nd pic is at 200mm so that shows how close I got to him. I'll post the rest of the mob later

Absolutely great series. The "mob boss" looks like he's ready to take on all comers.

LD, or Mike
Often mistaken, but never in doubt.
