That would be a Sacred Lyn.

I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.

These are all nice shots. I'm glad this thread is still active. I'm headed to Onslow in about a week.

I had to delete some from the previous post, I found I had doubled some on Flickr. Of course I deleted the wrong one! Take 2

Great shots, It's hard to capture the little fellows isn't it?

These all look like Australian birds, but your tag suggests America. Ahh just re read it, Onslow, were you here for work? Holiday?

Thanks, We were visiting our daughter. She married an Aussie and moved to Au. about 4 years ago. Our son in law works for Chevron and is stationed in Onslow. They moved from Freo to Onslow in January. They like it up there. It is not as photogenic as Freo, but we'll go to wherever our grand kids are.

And a shot to show how old it is.
Not sure of age myself.

Realise this is a while back.
These are all awesome. Much appreciated thank you
Curious : how do you tell its age?
Or is that the proverbial 'how do you tell the age of a cat' question.

Do they grow more tail feathers?

Loving this site, and I feel a bit like an intruder, but curious what sort of ranges are you in these shots?
Obvious some of those majestic eagles aren't overly close.
But be interested to know please. 50 metres, eagles. 20 metre finches, tits, robins etc?

Also to appease my ignorance I see the focal length shown, but then a 400 mm maybe also show @500 for egs.
What does that mean please.
I love birds, but never strayed into that domain. Landscapes in our great outdoors has been my love for yonks.

Major Mitchell Cockatoo.

These were about half way between Kalgoorlie & Southern Cross. Eating small pine like cones on the roadside.

Hi avondale87, each person will have his own preferences. I find it easier to photograph birds from a blind (even the car) they don't seem as wary. If the see a person, they are off! (or maybe that's just me!)

The smaller birds you mention are as close as you can get & then I sometimes crop quite severely to get a decent composition.

I would never tire of shooting landscapes if I lived in Tassie!
