Welcome to the site, there's a lot of knowledgeable people on here.

You'll also need access to a 'Mac' that's got firewire capability with the EOS Utility on, if you want to be able to change the copyright info in the exif data on your pictures. As for the cable itself I'd say maplins or LCE (London Camera Exchange). This is assuming you don't have a PC with working firewire capabilities.

I'm not trying to put you off or anything, these are the pitfalls I came across when I got mine a couple of years ago.

Anyway have fun when you finally get hold of it, and post them pictures.

Rich

I agree with techno. I've worked with my old 1Ds on both an older PC laptop running XP through a Firewire adapter, and a MacBook Pro with built-in Firewire. Both worked, but I definitely prefer the MacBook. Seems to be the much more stable platform. Only thing you need to watch out for is that whichever software you use, make sure your OS version is still able to support it. (Check the list from Canon on their site that helps determine which OS versions support which versions of EOS Utility, for example) Also agree on the gang at LCE (Guildford). They helped me find an ancient piece of hardware from half a world away. Great people.

You'll really enjoy the pics you'll get from that old workhorse. Hope to see some soon!

A couple of kitty photos from this morning, with the 1Ds and the 85mm f/1.8. Thinking about it now, I should have tried it with the 85mm f/1.2 L II I have here as well...

Stir-fry with the Canon 1Ds and the 85mm f/1.2 L II lens. This combo works GREAT together!

Canon 1Ds Mark I with the 85mm f/1.2 L II lens. For a 16 year old camera, this thing still really puts out!

Outstanding pano! That's quite the ominous looking storm. On a side note, I looked at the pic before reading the thread and immediately thought "Texas!" Still can tell the architecture even through not having lived there in decades ;-)a

I miss Texas thunderstorms...

I appreciate the feedback! Thankfully that storm had more bark than bite, but did pack alot of lightning, wind, and rain (about an inch fell).

An off-the-hip shot with the 1Ds and the 50mm f/1.8 STM. Surprised at how well it turned out (and yes, I realize its technically not proficient).
