So just as an update I went ahead and ordered an XT2 and the kit lens from B&H. I was torn between this and the Sony A7iii. In the end the cost of the sony system was going to be to much.
Worst case, I have 30 days to decide if it's for me or not.

18-55 kit lens is great. .......... is that he one you bought????

For your application you'll probably fall in love with the fuji render. Very good low light capabilities for a crop sensor.

Yea I got the 18-55. So far without knowing how to use it well yet it has some very sharp photos. I gotta figure out the AF a bit better though because I'm having a hard time getting sharp pictures of my kids.

I think I'm going to either pic up a 35m or the 80m macro next. The macro is a much larger investment though. I'm going to look into how I can use my canon macro on this frame if possible.

The XF 18-55mm is a bit beyond a kit lens. To me the kit lens is the XC 16-50mm. You will be very satisfied with the cobo. you have.

You wont be disappointed on getting the fuji over the Sony. The fujinon glass is well ahead of sony IMO. Fujinon/Fuji have a long long pedigree in top glass dating back to old medium format film days and I rate them up there with Leica glass and Zeiss glass at a 1/4 of the price and well ahead of Canon and Nikon pro glass . In addition they have way more lens's in their range than sony currently have or ever will for that matter. Can see this only to well in their planned lens product time line for future lens. And bodies get better and better as time goes on as is shown in the XT2. But really the glass is the important part of the equation because you will change bodies a lot more times than you will your len's and its the glass thats very important in creating a good image . You can have the most developed camera around but if your glass is average your images will be average :)

Happy shooting with the new Xt2!

I will second that also.....Fujis 18-55 is one of their best pieces of glass in a zoom. One of the reasons it is put as kit lens is a smart marketing decision of Fuji's. They realise that many people going into a fuji mirrorless camera will be doing it for the first time so they figure that including a superior lens to most kit lens will give the best possible opportunity for the new user to create a great image and not be disappointed when they start to develop their skills and inturn understand better what good glass means to creating good images.
